Why this site exists
DroneCoreGuide exists to be the resource I wished I’d had when I soldered my first flight controller stack: complete parts lists, clear wiring steps and real settings. It draws on three years of building, flying, crashing and rebuilding FPV quads, whoops and GPS drones.
The goal is simple: give builders guides detailed enough to follow from an empty frame to a confident first flight, and to keep going into autonomy and onboard AI.
What we cover
- Build guides for FPV, cinewhoops, long-range, GPS and mapping drones.
- Parts explained: motors, ESCs, flight controllers, frames, batteries, radios and video systems.
- AI and autonomy: companion computers, MAVLink, object tracking, obstacle avoidance and simulation.
- Rugged builds: durability, weatherproofing, vibration control and redundancy.
- Laws, safety and repair, because a good build is also a legal and safe one.
- Weekly drone news on racing, competitions, defense and industry, always credited to the original reporting.
How guides are written
Guides draw on hands-on building experience and are checked against manufacturer documentation and the official Betaflight, ArduPilot and PX4 documentation before they’re published. When firmware, products or rules change, guides are updated and the “Updated” date changes. Read the full editorial policy.
How the site is funded
Some links on DroneCoreGuide are Amazon affiliate links. If you buy through them, the site earns a small commission at no extra cost to you. That money buys parts for testing and keeps every guide free. Commissions never decide what we recommend. See the affiliate disclosure.
